"CTPdeSrv.exe" is taking all the CPU resources after connecting
a Nomad Zen/Jukebox
If after installing a Creative
NOMAD Jukebox player such as NOMAD Jukebox Zen, Jukebox Zen NX etc, and you
find out that the application "CTPdeSrv.exe" is
taking all the CPU resources, you can boot your player into Recovery
Mode, and
run the Cleanup option.
To boot your player to Recovery
Mode, follow the procedures below. For more
information about how to access the Recovery Mode of all MP3 players, please
refer to SID
4794 "How do I access the recovery mode of my Creative MP3 Player?"
- Detach your player from your PC , and turn off your player.
- Connect the power supply to the player.
- Hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a paper clip into the
Reset hole on your player.
- Wait for 4 seconds or so, and then remove the paper clip.
- Keep on
holding the Play/Pause button till the Rescue Mode screen appears.
- After
the recovery mode has started, release the Play/Pause button.
The player will display the following options:
- Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk, it will
remove links that are no longer present, and it will not affect the physical
files)
- Format All (Formats the players hard disk - Note: all
contents will be lost)
- Reload OS or Reload Firmware (Reloads the
Operating System on the player. )
- Reboot (Reboots the device).
Select Clean UP. Once it is finished, select Reboot to reboot your player.
In addition, you can try to disable the background application in your PC .
Go to START, RUN, Type MSCONFIG and click OK. Under the General tab select Selective
Startup, and uncheck Load Start Up Group Items only, everything
else should be checked under Selective Start up. Click on APPLY and OK (CLOSE
on Windows 98/ME). Restart the system.
